WHO’S ON THE COUNCIL?
The Council is comprised of anyone who regularly volunteers their time working with us. This ranges from elected Governing Board members, to Committee Chairpersons, to Committee Members, plus specifically appointed Designated Staff positions and other project-related representation roles.
We also have ten “Stakeholder” Committees any Stakeholder can volunteer with. Each focuses on a specific area of interest: Business; Education; Public Health and Safety; Recreation; Cultural Affairs; Environmental Affairs; Outreach; Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM); Public Works and Beautification; and Transportation and Mobility.
WHAT’S THE GOVERNING BOARD?
Nineteen (19) Governing Board members are elected for four-year terms by a popular vote held in overlapping 2-year intervals. Ten (10) District Representatives in one cycle, and five (5) District Representatives, plus four (4) Community Interest Representatives in the other. It’s these nineteen who are empowered by the City Charter to officially represent and advise on behalf of Los Feliz.
WHEN & WHERE DOES THE GOVERNING BOARD MEET?
The Governing Board monthly meeting is generally held the 3rd Tuesday of each month, but can be rescheduled around holidays (check our calendar). Full meeting agendas are available 72 hours in advance on this website, plus at public posting place within the neighborhood’s boundaries.

Elysian Masonic Lodge

CAN ANYONE ATTEND MEETINGS?
Yes, please! The Neighborhood Council is a government entity and by law, all of our meetings are always open to the public. If you want to get a feel for who we are and what we do, drop in on a meeting and join us.
STAKEHOLDERS?
“Stakeholders” are people who live, work or own real property within LFNC boundaries and also people who can declare a legitimate stake in the neighborhood by affirming a substantial and ongoing participation in a community organization within the Council’s boundaries such as, but not limited to, educational, recreational, business, public safety, nonprofit and/or religious organizations.
A “Community Organization” is a named entity with a physical street address within the LFNC boundaries from which it performs regular activities while maintaining any required bona fide documentation to validate its legitimacy.
Yes, this sounds like “legalese” because it is.
